GENERAL NOTES
----------------------
The lower age cut-off at which information is collected will vary from country to country.
If no grade level information exists, this variable will be missing.
The variable does not take into account the actual number of years required to reach this level, in other words, first grade repeated three times still only counts as 1 year of schooling.
If a person has completed a BA/BSc, MA/MSc or PhD, but no number of years is known, use country specific information for the number of years.

COUNTRY SPECIFIC NOTES
----------------------------------
Due to the large number of inconsistencies detected between the level of education the person has been attending at the time of the survey or the level of education completed for those who were not attending school at the time of the survey and the number of years of schooling provided in the raw data; the later could not be used in the harmonized data set.
Alternatively, the number of years of education was generated using the highest level of education completed for all household members who ever attended school and completed at least one level of education.
For those who attended and left a number of years equivalent to the highest level completed was assumed following the Iraqi Education System.
For those who has been attending in primary at the survey time, the grade currently attended reduced by one was used to estimate the number of years of education successfully completed.
For those who has been attending in any other education level, the number of years of education were calculated as the summation of the number of years equivalent to all previous levels completed in addition to the grade attended at the survey time reduced by one.
While for those who never attended school, the literacy status served in imputing the years of education by assuming 0 years for illiterates, 1 year for those who can read only and 2 years for those who can read and write.
For those who reported “other” in the highest level of education completed or the level of education attended at the time of the survey, the years of schooling could not be estimated.
